Precision & Ambiguity
Most of us don't crave uncertainty and doubt, we instead prefer clear, concise goals and objectives. However, we can rally around an ambitious, often ambiguous, mission. For example, "to improve the health of our citizens" — a statement many of us would be happy to support, yet one that lacks the precision necessary for immediate action. This simple example demonstrates that there is a hidden power in an enigmatic phrase when applied in the right context. We want to be stimulated — challenged into thinking about "what-ifs" — and ambiguity can rally us to a cause, it can excite the senses, it can start our creative engines. Once we've allowed the audacity of ambiguity to affect us we focus our efforts on brainstorming — an early step in getting to a clear, precise plan of action. With our concerted efforts, with the support and trust of our team, we chip away at uncertainty, and clarity prevails. This transformation is all the more appreciated because we began with hesitancy and doubt in the early stages. The contrast in our journey from start to finish is a prize to be cherished.
